Servi extends hydraulic life on production vessel Åsgard A

- With the robustness of this critical system, we are much better equipped to meet the winter storms, and maintain stable and safe operations on Åsgard A,
says Planning and Maintenance Manager (PV manager) on Åsgard A, Svein Erik Lien
about the maintenance job Servi Group has performed on the ship in 2022.

Servi originally supplied much of the hydraulics when the ship was built in the period 1996-1998 – where McGregor/Aker Pusnes was responsible for the delivery of the hydraulic systems.

After more than 20 years of operation, without much maintenance, a seawater leak in a hydraulic oil cooler sent a team from Servi Group back onto the ship.

Once the team from Servi was in place, they examined the rest of the hydraulic system on the ship; Further maintenance was needed here.

Prolongs the life of hydraulics

Without service and maintenance, you experience faster wear and tear on systems and components. This can cause the system to come to a halt - often at an inconvenient time - and you have to replace parts for the machinery to work again, for example.

Servi wants to prevent a "use and dispose" mentality by extending the life of new and old systems. Reuse, monitoring and regular service ensure this. We call this Servi Lifecycle Services

The advantages of servicing systems and components are several:

  • Maximizes uptime
  • Ensures reliability
  • Longer lifetime with preventive maintenance
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Resource-saving - both in labor and economy
  • Help ensure that old systems become more energy efficient

Godt fornøyd: På Equinors interne Yammer sommeren 2022 beskriver plattformsjef i Equinor, Ronald Mikkelsen innsatsen og jobben Servi gjør om bord på Åsgard A.
