Overhaul and lifetime extension of valve blocks

When a valve block requires maintenance, it is crucial to ensure that all components are functioning optimally. Servi's valve block overhaul service follows a comprehensive process to ensure the equipment is in the best possible condition.

Our overhaul process

Upon receiving the valve block, we first prepare a visual condition report, which is sent to the customer with recommendations for the next steps.

Next, we sandblast the block to remove paint and any impurities. All components are disassembled, cleaned, and necessary parts such as gaskets, seals, screw-in cartridges, screws, plugs, and electric valves are replaced. If needed, we can repair or manufacture damaged components.

After assembly, the block is painted according to the customer's specifications or Servi's standard procedure. Pressure and functional tests are then conducted, with valve adjustments made according to the established test procedure. The process concludes with a full inspection report.

We also offer third-party certification, such as DNV or ABS.

Visual condition report

Upon receiving the valve block, we prepare a detailed visual condition report. This report provides an overview of the block's condition and identifies any damage or wear. Based on this report, we provide recommendations for further actions, giving you a clear understanding of what needs to be done to restore the block's optimal functionality.

Sandblasting

The block is sandblasted to remove all impurities such as rust, paint, and other contaminants. This process ensures that the surface is clean and ready for further treatment, which is essential for achieving a smooth and durable finish.

Interval for valve block overhaul

Overhauling helps extend the lifespan of valve blocks, but determining an exact interval for overhaul is challenging. Some blocks are overhauled every five years due to DNV requirements, while others have been in operation for up to 20 years before needing an overhaul.

Full disassembly and cleaning

All components are disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. This step is critical to remove all traces of contaminants that could affect performance. We use specialized cleaning agents and techniques to ensure each part is completely clean before reassembly.

Component replacement

  • Gaskets and seals: All gaskets and seals are replaced to ensure there are no leaks and that the system functions as it should.
  • Screw-in cartridges: All screw-in cartridges are replaced to ensure reliability and longevity.
  • Screws and plugs: All screws and plugs are replaced to prevent corrosion and ensure a solid assembly.
  • Electric valves: All electric valves are replaced to ensure they function correctly and efficiently.
  • Slip-in (DIN) elements: The gaskets on all Slip-in (DIN) elements are replaced to ensure a tight and reliable seal.

Assembly

All valves are reassembled into the block with precision and accuracy. We ensure that each component is correctly placed and secured, so the system operates optimally.

Testing and adjustment

Pressure and functional tests are conducted to ensure the valve block operates as it should. The valves are adjusted according to the test procedure to ensure optimal performance. Customers are welcome to witness the testing, providing extra assurance that the work has been done correctly.

Third-party certification

If needed, we can offer third-party certification, such as from ABS or DNV. This provides additional assurance that the valve block meets the necessary standards and requirements.

Example of hydraulic block overhaul

After many years of use, this hydraulic block was brought in for service and overhaul at Kongsberg. It was disassembled and sandblasted, then fitted with new seals and valves where necessary. Following surface treatment and testing, it was returned to the customer for many more years of use. Sustainable in multiple ways.
