Reinforcement Finder / Profometer

The reinforcement finder uses electromagnetic fields or pulse induction to detect metal in the concrete. When the rebar is detected, the viewfinder provides a visual or acoustic signal.

It is used to locate reinforcement and detect covering of concrete. It can also provide the opportunity to determine the diameter of the reinforcement.

The profometer is an important tool for engineers and construction workers, as it helps to ensure that rebar is not damaged during work such as drilling or cutting, and to verify the location of rebar in existing structures.

The reinforcement finder is available in 3 different models:

  • PM 8000 Lite
  • PM 8000
  • PM 8000 PRO

PM8000 Lite

Model that makes it possible to locate rebar and its cover. The values are shown directly in the display on the viewfinder.

PM8000

Model that has a wireless, direct transfer of measurements to iPad. The viewfinder is placed on a trolley and can easily be guided along a concrete surface to locate rebar, distance to the next bar, and cover. "Line scan" is a very good method for directly detecting the position and cover of the rebar. All measurements are stored in a cloud solution and can be stored and processed further on a PC.

PM8000 PRO

Model as above, but with the added ability to measure both X and Y axis to show the entire reinforcement mesh over an area; "Area scan." Heat-maps can be produced to visualize the AR on the measured area.

The use of non-destructive testing (NDT) for concrete structures is important for several reasons:

  • Safety: NDT methods make it possible to detect flaws and weaknesses in concrete structures without damaging them. This helps prevent potential structural failures that could lead to serious accidents.
  • Cost-effectiveness: By using NDT, problems can be identified early, reducing the need for costly repairs or replacements later on.
  • Time efficiency: NDT methods are often faster than destructive tests, which means that inspections can be completed without significantly disrupting the construction process.

  • Preservation of Structure Integrity: Since NDT does not damage the concrete, the structure can continue to be used without the need for repairs after testing.

  • Accuracy: Modern NDT equipment provides highly accurate results, which is essential for assessing the condition of the concrete and ensuring that it meets the necessary standards.

  • Environmental friendliness: By avoiding destructive tests, waste and environmental impact are reduced, which is beneficial for sustainable construction practices.

NDT is often used in conjunction with the inspection of concrete structures for rehabilitation, changes of use or upgrades. This ensures that the structures are safe and reliable over time.
