E-module /FTS press

E-modulus (modulus of elasticity) testing of concrete is a method for determining the stiffness of concrete - and is a measure of how much it deforms under load. E-modulus testing is important for understanding the mechanical properties of concrete and for ensuring that it meets the requirements of specific structures.

  • Concrete specimens, usually cylindrical, are cast and cured under controlled conditions.

  • The specimen is placed in a testing machine that can apply a controlled load. A compressometer or similar device is used to measure the deformation of the specimen.

  • Load application is done by applying a series of compressive loads, usually up to about 40% of its compressive strength. The load is gradually increased while the deformation is measured.

  • The deformation is recorded at each load step, and a stress-strain curve is generated.

  • Calculation of E-modulus: The E-modulus is calculated as the slope of the linear portion of the stress-strain curve. This provides a measure of the elastic response of the concrete to load.

E-modulus equipment must mainly be factory-mounted on concrete presses.
