MICRO DEVAL

The Micro Deval method is a test method used to assess the wear resistance and durability of aggregates, especially in concrete and asphalt.

The test machine mainly consists of a heavy steel frame on which stainless steel cylinders can be mounted. It is supplied with a soundproof safety enclosure in accordance with CE requirements.

The method measures how much the unit wears down when exposed to mechanical stress and water. This gives an indication of the material's resistance to wear and degradation.

The aggregate is divided into specific size fractions and weighed before being placed in a steel cylinder with water and magnetic stainless steel balls.
The container is rotated to simulate wear.

The Micro Deval test is useful for quality control of aggregates as it provides information on how the materials will behave under load and in different environmental conditions. Materials with a low wear rate are more durable and better suited for use in construction.

The method is recognized for its accuracy and cost-effectiveness, and it requires smaller sample quantities compared to other methods, such as the Los Angeles test.
